Clinical Skills Workshop

by Laura Fralich

On July 20, 2004 St. Christopher's AMSA chapter facilitated the school's first-ever Clinical Skills workshop. Approximately sixty students rotated through four individual skill stations: tracheal intubation, blood pressure screening, blood glucose screening, and heart and lung sounds. Taught by former paramedics, medical technicians, nurses, and current professors, participants were introduced to the basics of these essential clinical skills through instruction and hands-on experience. The event was a tremendous success and AMSA hopes to continue providing students with opportunities such as these to improve practical skills prior to immersion in clinical rotations.
